Jennifer Malerich is Assistant Vice Provost for Academic and Global Engagement in the Office of the University Provost at Arizona State University. In this role she works to advance the internationalization of the undergraduate curriculum and student experience; support student success through the use of innovative advising processes and technology platforms, and advance the development of global-ready graduates. With twenty years of experience in the field of international education, Jennifer’s background includes developing and directing study abroad programs and internships, managing international academic campuses and integrating global learning into academic degree programs.

Advice for students preparing to go abroad: Think ahead about what you want to get out of the experience, and then set some goals to do just that. Reflect on your experience and document what you are learning, whether that’s in a journal or a digital portfolio or blog, so that you can represent your learning and newfound skills and competencies to future faculty and employers.
One of the most important lessons Jennifer learned while studying abroad or traveling: Be flexible! Embrace the challenges and push yourself to do new things. And, always try all the food!
