Why Lindsay works in global education: Global education experiences are transformational for all students, regardless of how long, where they go or who is participating. I believe the opportunity to study abroad shouldn't be open to just the few students who have the luxury, but is an integral part of the educational experience to prepare students to enter the world with the skills they need to succeed.
Advice for students preparing to go abroad: My piece of advice would be to immerse yourself as much as you can. We live in a globalized world and if you try hard enough, you can find something that is similar to home. While these can give you comfort in a foreign place, you're abroad to experience what that other country and culture is like. Resist the urge to get a hamburger, and try something new instead.
One of the most important lessons Lindsay learned while studying abroad or traveling: In a new situation, it is always going to be a transition until you find your groove. It's going to be hard at the beginning and that's okay. It's okay to be frustrated. It's okay when things don't go to plan. Those are the moments people don't typically share about when they go abroad, but they happen to everyone. It's all part of the journey and the adventure, and the growth that comes from it.
