Why Lindsay works in global education: Education is more than just what you learn in the classroom-- its a combination of all the life experiences and growth you have during your time in college, as well as what you learn from your teachers and books. Studying abroad is a chance to learn more about yourself and the world you live in than you could have ever received from just staying in the same country. You get to experience it first-hand. I think it's important for each student to get that kind of experience, and love that I get to encourage and help students embark on the adventure!

Advice for students preparing to go abroad: My piece of advice would be to immerse yourself as much as you can. We live in a globalized world and if you try hard enough, you can find something that is similar to home or come across another American. While these can give you comfort in a foreign place, you're abroad to experience what that other country and culture is like. Resist the urge to get a hamburger, and try something new instead.

One of the most important lessons Lindsay learned while studying abroad or traveling: In a new situation, it is always going to be a transition until you find your groove. It's going to be hard at the beginning and that's okay. It's okay to let your guard down and cry. It's okay to be frustrated. It's okay when things don't go to plan. Those are the moments people don't typically share about when they go abroad, but they happen to everyone. It's all part of the journey and the adventure, which makes going abroad so addictive.
