Academic Records Coordinator

Before becoming an Academic Records Coordinator, I worked for Northern Arizona University for three years as a Transfer Coordinator and assisted students in creating a transfer plan from their community college or former institution. Experience in reviewing transcript evaluations, student appointments, and receiving incoming inquiries for graduate and first year programs. I received my Bachelors in Social Work years prior to my professional work with NAU. Formerly a Lumberjack, I am now a part of the Sun Devil family. Not only am I a staff for ASU, I am currently working on my second bachelors, a BA in Art History with ASU. When I am not studying or working, you can find me looking for the next national park to visit, reading a book, looking for local coffee shops, or finding the next new food spot in the East Valley.

International Experience

• I lived in various Mexican states and got to experience my elementary school years there.
• I lived in Hidalgo, Morelos, and CDMX.
• Not only did I have to adjust to the colloquialisms of the areas, I had to adjust to the school systems, and their various morning and afternoon schedules. I had the opportunity to meet more of my extended family, and learn more of my indigenous roots.

Why Vee works in global education: I enjoy working in the international education field as we work with students who seek to expand their skills beyond what their home country offers them. Whether it be for passion, interest, or curricular, it is great to see the collaboration between staff and students to see their travel dreams come true.

Advice for students preparing to go abroad: One piece of advice I would give to a student preparing to go abroad is to take advantage of opportunities and experiences that are offered to you, even if they may not align with your goals at the time. Resources and support are fundamental in higher education, and studying abroad will be a new experience. Keeping in mind that any experience is good experience long term. 

One of the most important lessons Vee learned while studying abroad or traveling: One important lesson I learned as a young traveler is to keep an open mind. Things will be different, and some may find things odd, but you won't be able to have the full immersion by staying in your comfort zone!
